Off Pudding
01:03
|

these things weren't made for shift or shake
the way the light hits strangely and
it's hard to keep yourself awake
when everything is changing on you
you said, "the hardest thing about nineteen
was waking up and realizing
anything you love will leave
but these things don't dispose of easy"

Steve Holt!
01:54
|
|||
well nothing's what it was last week
still our limbs work just the same
but all our holes burn much too deep
with the reasons we can't fall asleep
and i don't know why
when all that was left were daydreams
and sweaters it's too warm to wear
you decided you'd be sorry
frankly, i don't think it's fair
and i don't know why i even try most times
so that's the problem with kids like you and me
we make one-thousand-foot-tall mountains from
the speedbumps on our street
and stand still

Bright Red Marker
02:19
|
|||
so they took a bright red marker
and wrote it loud
you're gonna run until your legs break
and call me for a ride into the next town
but i won't be around
the things in our suitcases
stay locked hidden away
and they're never half as scary as the things
we wake up with every day
so put a sweater on
if you're hearts grown that much colder
slept straight through september, october
bleach the floors
hide the remains
and chalk it up to yesterday
cause as of late, we're not living
we're just wasting away

Planetary Differences
01:02
|
|||
so we're pulled threads on sweaters
that used to be my favorite
we're a great big mess of the grandest kind
cause lately i'm convinced
that we just live on separate planets
that both come down at entirely the wrong times
it's a lot like that cold summer
when your father went away
now your eyes are void of wonder
we've run out of things to talk about

California Street
01:24
|
|||
well i won't fall asleep if you don't
it's a long drive back to california street
and i'm not glad the gas tank's empty
but i'm glad you spent tonight with me
"and i don't know what town this is, but i think i kinda like it"

Paperweights
02:23
|
|||
your crooked smile
& my worn-in shoes
it was such a shame we had to lose so soon
the way you'd run so fast
and i would just stand still
your feet were made to move, but mine never will
cause i can't carry what won't fit
inside my little coat pocket
and you just haven't got the space
for grown up feelings
and paperweights
& these things go right through you,
but they hit me like a heart attack
and now all our friends are moving on
i just want last summer back again
